I met John Herrera in 2015 during the International Fashion showcase in London. He was one of the few talented artists representing their countries with their innovative creations showcased during the London Fashion Week. A very talented young fashion designer originally from the Philippines, John loved the London fashion scene and decided that London would be his new fashion home. Since then, he created 3 more collections which were showcased in other events.
He entered the Britain’s Top Designer competition after the urging of some friends and as next step forward for his brand. Britain’s Top Designer is a cutting edge fashion designer competition hosted by Fashions Finest which takes place every February during London Fashion Week that aims to find the best emerging designer in the UK. For the competition, John created the “Agila” collection which is a collaboration with Epson East Asia, it is beautifully inspired by the Philippines tribal art and the Philippine Eagle. He went through a nerve-recking day-long judging process by Nicky Johnston (judge of Britain’s Next Top Model), Celebrity Stylist Bernard Connolly, presenter Lola Royle and Princes’ Trust Ambassador Lewis-Duncan Weedon, and bested five other designers.
Below are some of the photographs of the day. John, thank you. (Sorry for the inconsistent colours, the catwalk was lit by ever changing lights).
